Alejandro smiled.
“If your sister says yes.”
Sofía’s eyes filled with tears.
She remembered the darkest night of her life.
How ashamed and broken she had felt.

“Yes,” she whispered.
Julian walked Sofía down the aisle.
Together, Sofía and Alejandro founded a charity that paid emergency medical bills for families with nowhere else to turn.
On the wall of their office hung Alejandro’s first note to her:
